NFL Weekly Picks 2008 Football Season Preview: Week 4

Early Games

Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are the better football team. The Falcons will continue to win against bad teams and lose to good ones as they rebuild. Look for a heavy dose of Julius Peppers up in Matt Ryan's backfield all day long.

Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals took the defending champs to overtime%u2026and amazingly lost. The Bengals may have shown some signs of life, but they are still the Bengals. The big question is, when Cleveland gets down will Brady Quinn be able to bring them back? Yes. It's the Bengals.

Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags finally showed up against the broke-ass Colts. Can they do it two weeks in a row? Sure, it's against Houston. The only hope the Texans have is to have Mario Williams get past that torn up o-line and make plays in the backfield. That won't happen. Jags take it.

Bet on all the NFL Week 4 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Broncos are the luckiest sumbitches in the league so far. Of course, playing the Chiefs is kind of like getting lucky at Miss Kitty's brothel. It's not really about luck, more about just showing up.

San Francisco 49ers vs. New Orleans Saints
The Saints are having a tough season so far. Has Jeremy Shockey been dropped from EVERYBODY'S fantasy leagues? For a guy who was supposed to be a focal point of an explosive offense%u2026 they should ask the Giants for a draft pick back. Hopefully the rest of them can use this game against the 49ers as a way to get the ship righted. Saints should take this game at home.

Arizona Cardinals vs. New York Jets
The Jets have some good young corners, but not that good. The Cardinals beat up on some teams and then lost a tight one against the Redskins. The Jets won't be able to stop the tandem of Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. Look for Kurt Warner to have a big game throwing the ball to his top flight WRs.

Green Bay Packers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs are riding an emotional high and the Packers are riding a low. Al Harris' injury will slow the Packers' secondary down, but they should be able to execute well enough to win the game.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans
The Titans have the third best YPG defense so far this season. The one-dimensional Vikings will have to come up with some big plays in order to pull this game out. Gus Frerotte probably doesn't have the gas left in the tank that will be needed to properly manage this game.

2008 NFL Football Season Preview: Week 4

Late Games and MNF

San Diego Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders
The Chargers have started to look better each week and Oakland continues to look just plain bad. How does a team this badly run even make it to the stadium on time? Honestly, if anyone has any information on the management of the Oakland Raiders please call the number on the back of the milk carton. Because they've been missing for years.

Buffalo Bills vs. St. Louis Rams
The greatest show on turf is over. It was a good dog, but it's time to say goodbye. The last couple of years the spark wasn't there, he didn't jump as high or run quite as fast%u2026 but we'll always have the NFL film footage. It's time to blow this up and rebuild this team from the ground up. Trade everything of value for draft picks NOW. Marc Bulger to Minnesota, Torry Holt to Carolina, Steven Jackson to the Saints the fire sale is on.

Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys and the Giants are the teams in the NFC to beat. The Redskins might be able to hang around with them for a quarter or two, but eventually the Cowboys will pull away in this NFC East matchup.

Bet on all the NFL Week 4 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears
The Bears gave away the game last weekend. That will stay with you for a while. The Eagles, on the other hand, beat a very tough Pittsburgh team. The Eagles have looked good even when they've lost this year, and this week Kyle Orton will be having nightmares about defensive coordinator Jim Johnson and his exotic blitzes.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Ravens' defense looks like it's back. The Steelers' defense hasn't gone anywhere, so look for this game to go down to the wire. This is going to be a good old-fashioned grind-it-out football game. Two very good running teams (even without Willie Parker) who are also two of the best in the league at stuffing the run. Big Ben is going to have to make a play with his arm to win this game in the fourth quarter.

NFL Weekly Picks 2008-2009 Season Week 3

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Chiefs are bad, and so are the Falcons. How best to describe this game? The Falcons are less worse? Tyler Thigpen should start to give K.C. some consistency under center, but will it be consistently good? Not likely.

Oakland Raiders vs. Buffalo Bills
The Bills should tear apart a terribly undisciplined Oakland team. Darren McFadden had a couple of nice plays last Sunday, but before anyone gets too excited they should look back at who was across the field from him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Chicago Bears
Tampa Bay had very high expectations coming into this season. Somehow they're 1-1, yet it feels like they should be 0-7 about now. Brian Griese gets the start and Jeff Garcia is on the trading block. The Bears should be able to run to a win against the Bucs' aging defense on the legs of young Matt Forte.

Bet on all the NFL Week 3 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Carolina has been playing well, and making plays to win games late. The Vikings have been doing the opposite. Will Gus Frerotte right the sinking ship in Minnesota? Yup. This team is too talented at the other positions. Frerotte will come in and manage the game for them. That's all they need from the quarterback position to win.

Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots
Joey Porter talks trash. Again. Joey's team loses again. Brady or Cassel, doesn't matter. The Dolphins starters would be third or fourth stringers on the other teams in the league.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Giants
Carson Palmer should demand a trade. And sit out till he gets it. He will never win in Cincinnati with the way management handles its business. The Giants are the anti-Bengals. Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin are all class, and their players play like it.

Bet on all the NFL Week 3 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans
Tennessee has a new starting quarterback, and now the wins should come easier. Kerry Collins is a vet who can handle the pressure of Sundays in the NFL. Houston is still the big winner though. Not the game. Don't be crazy. Reggie Bush can't run between the tackles and Vince Young can't even play. What's Mario Williams doing? Probably getting about 10.5 sacks.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Redskins
Arizona has had two extremely impressive performances. Never mind they were against the 49ers and the Dolphins. The Redskins should present a more realistic sense of how far the Cardinals have progressed. And it's probably not as far as everyone thinks.

Bet on all the NFL Week 3 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

New Orleans Saints vs. Denver Broncos
Mike Shanahan is brave/crazy/stupid or most likely a combination of the three which just makes him lucky. They absolutely stole the game away from the Chargers on Sunday and they probably won't get another opportunity to do that against the Saints.

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers
The Lions might actually win a game. Naaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

St. Louis Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Rams should be able to sneak out a win this week. Seattle has been torn up by injuries and the Rams have been cracking off some of the rust from not playing together in almost two years for some of these players.

Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens
The Browns need to relax and understand that they are not that good yet. Last year, no one saw them coming. This year they actually believe their own hype and it's killing them.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are in trouble. Their defense has been shredded for yards, and now Bob Sanders is done for the next four to six weeks. He is their leader on the field and without him, Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew should be able to get to the second level easier in the run game.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This one should be a good game. The Steelers' defense versus the Eagles' offense will be one of the best matchups all week. Look for the Steelers to take this one as the Eagles shake off a bit of a Monday Night hangover from their disappointing loss to the Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers
The Cowboys found a way to win versus the Eagles, but Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will show the Cowboys they have to be tougher mentally if they want to win it all. In September, it's the Pack; in January, the Cowboys will lock it up.

New York Jets vs. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers finally get their first win on what has started as a very tough season. Two last-drive losses would destroy a lesser team, but the Chargers have enough talent and experience to get back on track. Plus, Favre is still only using a third of the playbook. How can they not scheme for that?

NFL Weekly Picks 2008-2009 Season Week 2

9/14 1:00 ET At Kansas City -3.5 Oakland 36 Total
Oakland is a joke this year. Baby faced coach gets fired by mid-season. Give the 3.5 points and take KC.

9/14 1:00 ET At Cincinnati -1 Tennessee 37.5
Carson, numero uno, hits, Ocho Pyscho for 3 touchdown passes. Vince Young is at home with Momma. Give the 1 point and take the Bengals.

9/14 1:00 ET Indianapolis -2 At Minnesota 43.5
Hey Peyton...you looked like a kicked dog on Sunday Night. Were you feeling bad...BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT. I like you Peyton, but my head says Minnesota is going to be tough this year. I am taking the Vikings.
v 9/14 1:00 ET At Washington PK New Orleans 42
Redskins defense will not be able to stop Drew, Shockey and Bush. Take New Orleans.

9/14 1:00 ET Green Bay -3 At Detroit 45.5
Matt Millen, you always sounded intelligent when you were in the broadcast booth. A little tougher than it looks isn't it, big guy?? You have had too many years with no results. I am taking Green Bay.

9/14 1:00 ET At Carolina -3 Chicago 37.5
Carolina has Jake back and he beat my home town San Diego Chargers with 2 seconds to go. Chicago has a quarterback and Hester on special teams. I am still going with the Panthers.

9/14 1:00 ET NY Giants -8.5 At St. Louis 41.5
I am glad I do not have to watch this game. Giants and more of the Giants.

9/14 1:00 ET At Jacksonville -5.5 Buffalo 37
The Jags get their first win.

9/14 4:05 ET At Tampa Bay -7 Atlanta 38

NFL Betting Lines 2008 Season Week 2

9/14 4:05 ET At Seattle -7 San Francisco 38.5
Where are you Coach Walsh? J.T. is go to be O'for 2. Take the Seahawks.

9/14 4:15 ET At Arizona -6.5 Miami 39
Who cares? Okay, Parcells is re-building, Warner will not make any mistakes. I am taking Arizona.

9/14 4:15 ET At NY Jets -1.5 New England 37
Remember Tom Brady gets to see Giesle naked every night and to kiss his booboo. Coach Belichick will have his team ready. Parcells always said the quarterback gets too much credit and too much of the blame. Brady did not lose the Super Bowl last year by himself. Meaning the Patriots are not done by a long shot. Bottom line take the Patriots, they will cover the spread.

Bet on all the NFL Week 2 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

9/14 4:15 ET At Houston -4.5 Baltimore 37.5
Boring...Boring....Take Houston and watch another game.

9/14 4:15 ET San Diego -1.5 At Denver 46
After seeing Cutler and Royal the Charger will have their hands full. I will root for the Chargers but will take the points and Denver.

9/14 8:15 ET Pittsburgh -6 At Cleveland 45
Big Ben rolls over Cleveland. Take the Steelers.

Monday Night Football Line

9/15 8:35 ET At Dallas -7 Philadelphia 47
The Cowboys with all the glitz and glamour will have their hands full with McNabb. LOVE the COWBOYS but will take Philly and the points. This is the game of the week.

NFL Weekly Picks 2008-2009 Season Week 1

Washington Redskins vs. New York Giants
The defending Super Bowl champ's pass rush has lost Osi Umenyiora to injury and Michael Strahan to the TV booth, but Justin Tuck is a force and Washington's ailing line will not be able to stop him.

Detroit Lions vs. Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta is going to struggle all season long. It starts Sunday.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens
Last year the Ravens' defense started to bend from signs of age. If history is any indicator, this year they will break. This will come down to Carson Palmer vs. Joe Flacco in his first NFL start. Palmer every time in that situation.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
Matt Hasselbeck is ready to go for the openers which is bad news for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills have improved this offseason, but they didn't turn into the Patriots.

Bet on all the NFL Week 1 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins
Brett vs. Chad. Who cares? Long vs. Gholston. They line up on opposite sides. There's only one storyline needed between these two AFC East rivals. They hate each other. Brett will be Brett, but the Dolphins will be the most improved team this season. Parcells has rebuilt them. They are younger, bigger, faster and stronger.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots
Ummm, lemme think. The Brady/Moss sequel promises to have twice the excitement as the original. Especially against the Chiefs' porous secondary.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints
New Orleans will be filled with the same emotional punch that fueled their 2006 explosion after Katrina. The Bucs can thank Gustav for a beating on opening day.

St. Louis Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The Rams HAVE to be better than last year, and Philly is sure to be ready to prove that they belong in the tough NFC East. It will all come down to Philly's o-line stopping Jim Haslett's complex blitzing schemes. Which they will not.

Houston Texans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Texans' offense hasn't improved as fast as their defense has, so look for the Steelers' D to take control of this game.

Bet on all the NFL Week 1 action at Bodog Sportsbook.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans
The Titans can stop the run. The Jags can run the ball. Only one of these statements will be true on Sunday. DT Albert Haynesworth and the Titans should be able to lock up Jones-Drew and Taylor in Week 1.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns
Don't miss this game. It's going to be a shootout. Both of these teams have explosive offenses that pass first and pass second, but when it comes down to making that crucial defensive stop, the edge goes to the Cowboys.

Carolina Panthers vs. San Diego Chargers
As long as Shawne Merriman doesn't rip his ACL/MCL combo completely, this game is the Chargers' to lose.

Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers
Huh, what time is it? Oh. Kurt Warner is starting versus who? Cards over the 49ers.

Chicago Bears vs. Indianapolis Colts
One big question looms. How healthy is Peyton? Marvin Harrison had the same injury last season and he wasn't right all year long. Chicago will be able to put pressure on Manning and force him to make some mistakes his first game back.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers' first start in the NFL will be a rough one. On Monday Night Football, Jared Allen and the Vikings are going to be in the Packers' backfield all night long.

Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders
Wow. Is the Arizona/San Fran game on? Denver over the Raiders just because they can't possibly put a decent product on the field with all of the drama that goes on in that black hole.
